在射频通信中应用的第三种结构是直接转换结构（见图3）。由于直接转换结构直接将基带信号和射频信号在同一进程中混合在一起，这使得该结构的信号链路最为简单，它所需要的元器件最少。与其它两种结构不同的是，它将不需要中频处理和声表面波（saw）滤波器。正是由于声表面波滤波器在过去的年代比现在昂贵很多，才导致了直接转换结构的诞生。
